The “Strengthening Industrial Standardization and ICT Capacity (SISIC) Project” is a joint collaboration between Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), set to transform Rwanda’s industrial standardization and quality standards.
The project focuses on strengthening the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) and empowering SMEs in priority industries to enhance their competitiveness. By upgrading standardization, metrology, conformity assessment, certification services, and integrating advanced ICT solutions, the project positions Rwanda to meet international quality benchmarks and expand its industrial footprint in regional and global markets.
A specialized consortium composed of Solutek Systems Co. Ltd., Korea Standards Association (KSA), and Korea Industry Intelligentization Association (KOIIA) are taking part in the implementation of the SISIC.
The Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, is mandated to protect, conserve, and manage Rwanda’s environment and natural resources.
REMA develops and implements policies, strategies, and regulations that promote sustainable development while addressing challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. It oversees environmental impact assessments, monitors compliance, and raises public awareness to ensure environmentally responsible practices across sectors.
REMA also spearheads initiatives to restore degraded ecosystems, enhance resilience to climate change, and promote green growth. By working with communities, government institutions, and development partners, REMA ensures that Rwanda’s development is environmentally sustainable.

TradeMark Africa (TMA) is a foremost Aid-for-Trade institution dedicated to transforming Africa’s trade landscape through strategic innovation, impactful partnerships and evidence-based interventions. Since 2010, TMA has mobilized over USD 1.5 billion and implemented more than 400 initiatives across 15+ African countries, aimed at reducing trade barriers, lowering transaction costs and fostering inclusive economic growth.
TMA has achieved up to a 70% reduction in cargo transit times by investing in smart infrastructure, digital trade systems, and policy reforms. Moreover, its support for quality infrastructure to align with ISO/IEC standards and other international norms enhances standardization, metrology, accreditation, conformity assessment and SPS systems, enabling African enterprises to access global markets under the AfCFTA.

China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS) is a national standardization institute affiliated to the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) of the People’s Republic of China.
CNIS is committed to research on fundamental and general, cutting-edge, comprehensive standardization areas, actively engaged in national and international standardization activities covering such areas as energy saving, low carbon, circular economy, food and agriculture, biodiversity, ageing societies, smart sustainable cities, with the strong support of its 8 testing laboratories in the fields of ergonomics, energy and water efficiency and greenization, biotechnology and visual health etc.
CNIS also provides standardization services to the public through the National Library of Standards, with a collection of over 1.9 million standards documents.
ARSO is an intergovernmental Organisation established by African Union (formerly OAU) and UNECA in 1977 with a mandate (AfCFTA Agreement, TBT Annex 6/6) to harmonise Standards and conformity assessment procedures to reduce TBTs to promote intra-African and Global Trade. This entails harmonisation of national and/or sub-regional standards as African Standards; development of unique African Standards of products of peculiar interest to Africa; encouraging the adoption of international standards by member bodies as the basis of Regulations and Conformity Assessment; Capacity Building, Awareness creation, information dissemination and facilitating participation of members in international standards organisation like ISO, IEC, OIML and Codex.
