ISO 14001:1996

Environmental management systems -- Specification with guidance for use

ISO 14001:1996 is revised by ISO 14001:2004. However, the 1996 version is provisionally retained as a valid standard during an 18-month transition period, beginning November 2004, which allows for organizations to make the transition to ISO 14001:2004. See this Press Release for further details.

Gives requirements for an environmental management system, to enable an organization to develope a policy and objectives taking into account legislative requirements and information about significant environmental impacts.
