What is ISO/IEC 17007?
ISO/IEC 17007 provides principles and guidance for developing normative documents such as standards, technical specifications, codes of practice and regulations so they are clear, concise and suitable for use in conformity assessment.
The standard supports the development of documents that can be effectively used at national, regional and international levels, in both regulated and non-regulated contexts.
Conformity assessment is the demonstration that specified requirements are fulfilled. It includes activities such as testing, inspection, auditing, validation, verification and certification.
This second edition replaces ISO/IEC 17007:2009. It has been technically revised to align definitions with ISO/IEC 17000, enhance guidance on the three categories of provisions in normative documents, update the guiding principles for drafting documents that are the essential features of a standard to be used for conformity assessment, and provide a useful description of the CASCO toolbox.
