In 1992, due to the independence by the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State Centre for Standardization, Metrology and Certification under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (UZGOSTANDART) was formed. At the same time, the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the Law "On standardization", which defined the further development of the standardization system in the country.
In accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 3 October 2002, UZGOSTANDART was reorganized into the Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Uzbekistan (UZSTANDARD).
"UZSTANDARD" agency as a national body for standardization, metrology and certification provides means for implementing national policy in the fields of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment, and carries out state supervision, as well as represents the country's interests within international and regional organizations for standardization.
