Created by Law No. 19-2015 of 29 October 2015, the Congolese Agency for Standardization and Quality (ACONOQ) is the national standardization body of the Republic of Congo, responsible for implementing the national standardization and quality management system.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry, ACONOQ's role is to ensure standardization, promotion of quality and conformity and metrology assessment in all socio-economic sectors.

Its main tasks are to:

• Identify national standardization needs;
• Centralize and monitor all standardization work;
• Develop standardization and quality rules with the support of the technical standardization committees, whose organizational and operating procedures are established through legislation;
• Promote quality management in businesses and other socio-economic organizations;
• Train and raise awareness among all the socio-economic actors in the areas of standardization, metrology, certification, and promotion of quality;
• Manage the national standards register;
• Ensure the traceability of the national measurement system to the International System of Units;
• Establish and operationalize the sectorial technical committees and certification committees;
• Implement the national product and service certification system with the allocation of a national mark of conformity;
• Represent the Republic of Congo in international standardization bodies and related activities;
• Represent the Republic of Congo within regional and international standardization organizations;
• Manage the national conformity assessment and certification system;
• Promote a culture of quality in the public and private sectors;
• Develop metrology infrastructures and test laboratories.

ACONOQ is a member of the African Regional Organization for Standardization (ARSO), of the Francophonie Standardization Network (RNF) and is an Affiliate Plus member of the IEC. ACONOQ participates in the work of CODEX ALIMENTARIUS.
