Botswana - BOBS
Two study visits to national standards bodies: the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) and Standardization Administration of China (SAC). The NSBs were selected based on the progress they have made so far regarding inclusion of standardization into their school curricula.
Realizing there was a gap in the appreciation and use of standards by the general public, BOBS contacted the Ministry of Education and Skills Development through its Curriculum Development and Evaluation Department for their assistance in infusing standardization concepts into the school curricula.
The Department Curriculum Development and Evaluation embraced the idea and identified a desk officer who will be working with BOBS on the project. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development sponsored two of its officers to join the BOBS¿ delegation on a benchmarking exercise to SAC, China. The two parties have yet to establish the best approach to take the project to another level.
There is no formal agreement as yet but it is envisaged that the ongoing consultations will culminate in a formal agreement.
