Singapore supermarket saves 4.5 m Singaporean dollars a year with standards

Using standards has helped NTUC FairPrice, Singapore's largest retailer, save approximately 4.5m Singaporean dollars a year.

The company uses a number of standards to help improve efficiency in the manufacturing, storage and distribution of goods.

"We use cold chain standards, palletisation standards and barcode standards which have benefited us in many ways," explained Managing Director of Business Operations, Mr Gerry Lee.

"Overall the implementation of these standards helps us to save 4.5m Singaporean dollars a year in addition to creating a culture of continuous improvement," he added.
