This guide is intended for National Standards Bodies (NSBs), especially leaders and stakeholder-engagement officers in developing countries, but it is useful for any NSB aiming to strengthen the consumer voice in standards. Recognizing that NSBs vary in size, resources, and priorities, the recommendations support developing approaches tailored to national contexts. By using this guide, NSBs can understand the value of consumer participation, overcome engagement challenges through global best practices, build stronger relationships with consumer stakeholders, and improve representation in priority areas. It also helps NSBs identify and prioritize consumer-relevant standards, contribute to ISO’s goal of “all voices heard,” and demonstrate compliance with WTO requirements and ISO/IEC Directives.
