We commend UNDP’s leadership and strongly affirm that International Standards serve as essential tools in turning national climate ambition into credible, transparent practical, accountable implementation.
International Standards can help governments guide sectoral transitions, strengthen institutional capacity, improve measurement and reporting, and build the enabling conditions needed to attract and deploy climate finance with confidence by managing implementation risk.
By embedding standards into national climate strategies and NDC implementation plans, countries can align development priorities with the 1.5°C goal while ensuring inclusive, just and accountable outcomes.
ISO has been partnering with UNDP in developing the first global Management System Standards for Sustainability to help organizations embed climate and SDG considerations into governance, strategy, risk management, and reporting—creating comparable, credible impact data. ISO stands ready to work closely with UNDP and all partners to ensure that this collective effort is underpinned by globally recognized, consensus-based standards that support measurable progress and accelerate climate action on the ground.
