Ergonomics for designers

This is a set of five tuition modules focusing on the area of machine and plant construction. Much of the content can however be applied to other areas. Besides providing an introduction to basic ergonomics, the modules communicate specialist knowledge on the subjects of anthropometry and biomechanics, workplace environment factors (noise, mechanical vibration, lighting/colour, ambient climate) and the human-machine interface (controls and displays). In addition, good-practice examples of product and workplace design are presented. Besides the theoretical content, the modules also include illustrative sample videos, films and articles.

Original abstract:

Courses:The modules were designed primarily for the academic training of designers, and to enable lecturers to teach the principles of ergonomics without intensive preparation. Owing to their modular structure, the materials can also be used to supplement existing lecture materials. The tuition modules consist of sets of PowerPoint slides, accompanied by lecturers' notes, a wide range of examples (for example in the form of brief video sequences), and exercises.
