Standardization and nomenclature

This annex is part of a handbook on materials science for designers and engineers. In their design, they need to make use of standards. In the European context for which this book has been written, most of these standards are European standards. The annex lists important standards for steel, cast iron, copper, aluminium, magnesium, plastics and other materials. More importantly, it also describes more in general how standards can be found and this makes the text fit for use all over the world.
