In 2012, GSA extended its standardization activities to targeting secondary schools in Ghana. An essay competition on the Importance of Standards in National Development was organized for all second cycle schools in the country.

Grants permission and collaborates with GSA in extending standardization activities to primary and secondary schools.

Impact of initiatives in figures:

Number of schools or students reached: 200 schools were reached and entries received from 40 schools scattered over 10 regions of Ghana. The Ghana Education service with its Regional and District Officers were involved. Cash prizes and certificates were presented to the award winners at the 2012 World Standards Day celebration. The Director of programs at the Ghana Education Service attended the awards ceremony.

Other qualitative impacts: Students appreciate the relevance and importance of standardization for national development. The competition will be organized annually. An increasing number of schools have expressed their willingness to participate in upcoming competitions.
