- Representatives from academic institutions (such as professors in charge of courses or research programmes dealing with standardization, and staff members in charge of administration, planning and business development)
- Representatives from National Standards Bodies, ITU Member States, Sector Members and Associates, other standards developing organizations
- Government agencies and international organizations dealing with standardization matters
- Representatives from industry and other stakeholder groups
- News and media
Expected outcome:
- Strengthen the relations of standards bodies (national and international) with academic institutions involved in activities covering standardization
- Extend the network of contacts and partnerships with academic institutions
- Promote the interest in and initiatives of the standardization community targeting academia
- Facilitate the dialogue between stakeholders involved in standardization and academic institutions
- Increase the awareness of academia about the standards development process and priority issues addressed by ISO, IEC and ITU
- Launch/develop new initiatives and projects (re: education and research) based on the cooperation between standards bodies and academic institutions.
Participation:
Participation in the initiative is at no charge but subject to advance registration.
Due to the limited number of seats, admittance will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants will be fully responsible for their travel and subsistence costs.
All the sessions will take place in English and no translation will be provided – with the exception of the morning session of 7 July 2010, for which English and French simultaneous translation will be provided.

Recognizing academic excellence, presentation of the most important initiatives promoted by ISO, IEC and ITU to stimulate cooperation with Academia and to recognize academic excellence

Cooperation between international standards organization and academic institutions, presentation and discussion of initiatives aiming at promoting cooperation in education and research between International Standardization organizations and academic institutions – with a specific focus on the academic institutions of the Lake Geneva region
9 July
Economic and social benefits of standards, presentation and discussion of existing research studies and methodologies as well as of initiatives and projects to be undertaken, fostering cooperation between academic institutions and standards developing organizations
