The open day will feature two main sessions

Best practices for establishing and operating National Mirror Committees, by Geoff Visser, consultant.

For the ISO process to be successful, consensus is required to be developed and sought both at the national and international level. The establishment of a National Mirror Committee (NMC) is key in this process but recent surveys of the CASCO membership have indicated that not all members have fully functioning mirror committees. There are different constraints that make difficult the establishment of effective committees.  Therefore this session seeks to discuss and share ideas on how to identify and engage effectively stakeholders in the formation of suitable mirror committees

Tutorial session on changes of ISO/IEC 17021:2011 "Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems", by Randy A Dougherty and Alister Dalrymple co-convenors of working group 21

With the implementation of the 2006 version of 17021, it became evident that the competence of auditors and the audit process in general were the two issues associated with management system certification that required further development. The edition published in 2011 contains not only the 2006 requirements but additional ones that address these issues. In this session the speakers will highlight the changes.

CASCO working groups, by working group convenors

The purposes of the working group sessions are to shed light on the development process and specificities of each of the current standards being developed and to have active interactions with the participants. The sessions will be led by the working group convenors who will present the latest developments happening in their group, highlight two to four issues that have attracted the largest number of comments in the last balloting and show how they were addressed by the group. A large part of the sessions will be dedicated to the questions from the audience.

Introduction to the CASCO plenary for new delegates, by Olivier Peyrat, CASCO Chair

The session gives an introductory explanation to help delegates participate fully in plenary's discussions.  It will familiarize them with the issues that will be discussed at the plenary and highlight those documents requiring decisions.
