<def-item>

Definition List: Definition Item

Container element for one term/definition pair in a definition list.

Remarks

The <def-list> element should not be used to tag the formal terms and definitions provided in section 3 of many International Standards, or corresponding terms and definitions clauses in other documents. Such terms and definitions sections should be marked up using <term-sec> and the individual definitions should normally be marked up using <tbx:termEntry>.

See the separate documentation for a full description of the use of <tbx:termEntry>.

Related Elements

A <def-list> may have a <title> naming the entire list, followed by optional headings for terms and their definitions. <term-head> contains the heading over the first (term) column, and <def-head> contains the heading for the second (definition) column; neither serves as a container element for terms or definitions. Individual <term>s and their <def>s are paired in <def-item>s.
