What is an RSS feed?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is used to publish frequently updated content from a Web site.

An RSS file is a simple text file, XML formatted, that summarizes the content.

How to read an RSS feed

To read an RSS feed you need a feed reader (also called news reader or aggregator). Example of feed readers include Newz Crawler (PC), FeedDemon (PC), Awasu (PC), Newsfire (Macintosh), NetNewsWire (Macintosh). You can also use online feed aggregators offered by internet sites such as Yahoo!, Microsoft Live, NewsGator, Google (and many others...). Most internet browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer (from version 7.0), Opera, and Safari are also able to read and aggregate RSS feeds.

How to add an RSS feed to your reader

You just need to click on the RSS icon and copy the address of the feed into the feed reader.

If you have a recent internet browser (such as Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 2.0, Safari 3.0, Opera 9, etc..) you will be able to view the feed and subscribe to it within the browser itself.
