Country name codes

ISO 3166-1:2006 provides a unique two-letter code for each country and a three-letter code for special uses. A three digit numeric code is given and intended as an alternative for all applications that need to be independent of the alphabet or to save bits in computer storage.

Information about ISO 3166, as well as a list of the two-letter country codes is made available on the Web pages of the maintenance agency for ISO 3166.
