Supplementary rules
The preparation of an International Standard or other ISO publication frequently requires the consideration of aspects that are not necessarily directly linked to the more technical nature of the content. For example, how to take into consideration material that is associated with some form of intellectual property rights (IPR - patents, trade names, etc.), the need to describe safety considerations, the potential for associated quality management schemes, etc. In addition there are the more specialized aspects of, for example, the selection of the correct symbols and units or, in the case of methods of test, the expression of precision data.
