Making it easier to join ISO

ISO currently has a large number of full members from developing countries. In order to help certain other developing countries benefit from international standardization, ISO also has two other categories of membership for countries with fewer resources:

Correspondent members are usually organizations in a country which does not yet have a fully developed national standards activity. Correspondent members do not take an active part in the development of the technical and policy development work and do not vote, but are entitled to be kept fully informed about the work of interest to them and can use ISO standards as the basis for their national standards.

Subscriber members are bodies from countries with very small economies. They pay reduced membership fees which nevertheless allow them to maintain contact with international standardization.
