Interpretation on clause 6.2.1 of ISO/IEC 17021:2006

Summary

Question 1, referring to the application of Clause 6.2.1 d) of the ISO/IEC 17021:

If the Committee performs a review of the impartiality of all the processes in every meeting (12 meetings per year in our case), is it necessary to conduct an additional review every year?

Answer: no.

This answer was agreed by 91% of CASCO P-members voting (40 in favour out of 44 voting). Please note that one country (Brazil) who voted positively with comments did not have a positive vote registered on the balloting system due to the manner in which the ballot was set up.


Question 2, referring to the application of Clause 6.2.1 d) of the ISO/IEC 17021:

Given the fact that this review includes the “decision making process”, does it imply, that the Committee cannot take part in the decisions of granting / suspending / withdrawing certificates?

Answer: no.

This answer was agreed by 84% of CASCO P-members voting (37 in favour out of 44 voting). Please note that one country voted negatively (Canada) and two positively (Czech Republic and France) which is also not registered on the balloting system.
