What is the future of management system certification? Is it relevant to organizations affected by the current financial turmoil impacting the world economy? This Special Report comprises perspectives from a selection of certification bodies, or organizations representing them, from around the world.

Japanese analysis of challenges and way forward
This article addresses similar issues to those commented on in the preceding round-up of perspectives. It is longer because it was, in fact, originally requested as a stand-alone article. On receipt, it was quickly realized that its subject matter could be enlightened by a global selection of viewpoints, leading to the format of this Special Report with the round-up balanced by a more in-depth article on the situation in Japan, one of the “top ten” countries for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
