ISO Focus July/August 2006
Maritime security
Much of the world is linked by large numbers of international supply chains transporting goods among nations and economies. International trade security is a complex issue that requires the coordinated actions of governments, intergovernmental organizations and industry. The July 2006 issue of ISO Focus looks at what ISO is doing towards improving the efficient and safe transportation of goods from their point of origin to their destination, including the movement of goods, shipping data and associated processes.
Additionally, in an interview, Admiral Thad W. Allen, Commandant of the US Coast Guard standards talks about the work of his agency, and highlights its commitment to and the benefits of developing and implementing national and international recognized standards, to improve maritime safety, security and marine environmental protection, at the most economical cost to the public.
