ISO TC 223 - "Societal Security"

(Provisional) International standardization in the area of societal security, aimed at increasing crisis management and business continuity capabilities, i.e. through improved technical, human, organizational, and functional interoperability as well as shared situational awareness, amongst all interested parties.

The committee will use an all-hazards approach covering all necessary activities in the key phases of crisis management and business continuity.

CYBER SECURITY

ISO/IEC JTC1/SC 27 - "IT Security techniques"

Standardization of generic methods and techniques for IT security. This includes:

  • identification of generic requirements (including requirements methodology) for IT system security services,
  • development of security techniques and mechanisms (including registration procedures and relationships of security components),
  • development of security guidelines (e.g., interpretative documents, risk analysis), and
  • development of management support documentation and standards (e.g., terminology and security evaluation criteria).

Excluded is the embedding of mechanisms in applications.

BIOMETRICS

ISO/IEC JTC1/SC 37 - "Biometrics"

Standardization of generic biometric technologies pertaining to human beings to support interoperability and data interchange among applications and systems. Generic human biometric standards include: common file frameworks; biometric application programming interfaces; biometric data interchange formats; related biometric profiles; application of evaluation criteria to biometric technologies; methodologies for performance testing and reporting and cross jurisdictional and societal aspects.

ISO TC8/SC 11 - "Intermodal and short sea shipping"

ISO TC8 is the internationally recognized body of experts in the development of standards for the maritime community. IEC Technical Committees

IEC TC 79 - Alarm systems

Standardization of detection, alarm and monitoring systems for protection of persons and property, and
for elements used in these systems.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • intruder and hold-up alarm systems,
  • fire alarm systems,
  • hazard alarm systems,
  • social/emergency alarm systems
  • other monitoring and surveillance systems (for example,personal or baggage screening, and access control systems), and
  • associated transmission and communication systems.


The standards to be prepared shall cover terminology and technical characteristics regarding electrical safety, safe operation, testing and performance criteria of the detection, alarm, monitoring and associated transmission systems.

The work of TC 79 shall be conducted so as to ensure that liaison is maintained with other specialized IEC Technical Committees, ISO/TC 21 and ISO/TC 43, and the TSB and BR, so as to avoid duplication.

ICT SECURITY

ITU-T Study Group 17 - "Security, languages and telecommunication software"

Study Group 17 has been designated the LSG for Telecommunication Security.

Activities of the LSG for Telecommunication Security may be categorized as core activities centered on defining and maintaining overall security frameworks, and project management activities involving the coordination, assignment and prioritization of efforts that would lead to timely communication system security Recommendations.
