ISO’s engagement
Who does what?
ISO does not have one sole technical committee dedicated to standardization in the field of agriculture. In fact, there are many technical committees, each developing standards touching the many aspects of this subject:
ISO/TC 23, Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry
TC Scope:
Standardization of tractors, machines, systems, implements and their equipment used in agriculture and forestry as well as gardening, landscaping, irrigation and other related areas in which such equipment is used, including electronic/electrical aspects and electronic identification of all categories of animals.
ISO/TC 34, Food products
TC Scope:
Standardization in the field of human and animal foodstuffs, covering the food chain from primary production to consumption, as well as animal and vegetable propagation materials, in particular, but not limited to, terminology, sampling, methods of test and analysis, product specifications, food and feed safety and quality management and requirements for packaging, storage and transportation.
Excluded:
- products covered by ISO/TC 54 Essential oils and ISO/TC 93 Starch (including derivatives and by-products).
ISO/TC 54, Essential oils
TC Scope:
Standardization of methods of analysis and specifications for essential oils.
ISO/TC 81, Common names for pesticides and other agrochemicals
TC Scope:
Standardization of common names for pesticides and other agrochemicals.
ISO/TC 87, Cork
TC Scope:
Standardization in the field of cork, both the raw material and products manufactured and prepared from cork.
ISO/TC 93, Starch (including derivatives and by-products)
TC Scope:
Standardization of terminology, methods of sampling, methods of analysis and examination of starch (including hydrolysis products and dextrins) and its by-products.
ISO/TC 126, Tobacco and tobacco products
TC Scope:
Standardization of terminology and test methods for unmanufactured tobacco, all types of tobacco products, materials used for manufacturing tobacco products and tobacco smoke including environmental tobacco smoke aspects; specifications and questions of handling, storage, packaging and transport are included as appropriate.
ISO/TC 134, Fertilizers and soil conditioners
TC Scope:
Standardization in the field of fertilizers and soil conditioners, that is, materials whose addition is intended to ensure or improve the nourishment of cultivated plants and / or to improve the properties of soils.
