Directory of ISO-recognized international aerospace standards

At the request of technical committee ISO/TC 20, Aircraft and space vehicles, the Technical Management Board (TMB) approved a special procedure for the recognition by ISO of existing standards which are widely used in the aerospace field. The procedure consists in establishing a list of ISO recognized international aerospace standards and in displaying them in the ISO CataloguePlus. Any standard in the list should meet the six following criteria:

  • Standard is currently in use in multiple aerospace programs or in multiple countries;
  • Standard is suitable for new/future designs;
  • Standard does not duplicate another standard in current international use nor conflicts with an existing ISO standard;
  • Standard contains no requirements that would result in a barrier to trade or to use by any nation;
  • Standard is available at least in English and/or French;
  • Originating organization agrees with its submission for ISO recognition.

ISO recognized standards may be used pending the establishment of relevant International Standards in ISO.

However, such ISO recognition of an existing standard does not constitute its acceptance or endorsement as an ISO International Standard. Hence, the pertinent ISO policy which is applicable to ISO International Standards (ISO numbering, copyright questions, sale of the documents and full membership vote on the documents) does not apply.

Copies of ISO recognized international aerospace standards are available directly from the respective originating organizations at the addresses indicated below. They are not available from the ISO Central Secretariat.

The current ISO recognized international aerospace standards and respective originating organizations are listed below:
