ISO Focus - June 2009
Tackling hazards
Hazards are all around us. The causes may be different – whether human negligence, malevolence or natural disasters – but their likelihood (and seriousness) is no less real.
The June 2009 ISO Focus issue looks at how International Standards are practical tools to assess, prevent and respond to hazards. A collection of articles explore specific areas such as earthquakes, medical devices and IT, as well as more generic standards applicable to any sector or organization, such as the future ISO 31000 standard on risk management.
What's more, an exclusive interview with Cheryl L. White, Corporate Vice President, Quality at Baxter, explains how ISO standards represent a recognized baseline of acceptable practice for recognizing and mitigating risk: "Baxter uses a platform of International Standards to assure our quality systems and design processes conform to a generally accepted set of practices for identification and management of product risks."
If you want to find out more about how International Standards are proving highly effective in hazard vulnerability and mitigation, don’t miss the June 2009 issue of ISO Focus.
