ISO Focus+ – January 2012

Sustainability

2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as "the Earth Summit". Since then, the importance of sustainability has grown and International Standards such as those developed by ISO are paving the way towards a more sustainable world.

The January  2012 issue of ISO Focus+ is devoted to sustainable development and explores how some of 19 000 ISO standards developed through the strength of consensus among stakeholders from business, government and society, have provided tools for translating the global desire for a sustainable world into practical actions that achieve positive results.
