ISO Focus - January 2005
Securing transport
“The International Standards developed for maritime security will make a valuable and necessary contribution towards the overall aim of safeguarding international shipping from the threat of global terrorism,” says Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secretary General of IMO (International maritime Organization), in an exclusive interview in the January issue of ISO Focus on securing commercial transport.
The collection of articles reinforce how tightening security through the use of International Standards helps ensure a streamlined and lower risk interchange of goods at a moment when international trade is expanding rapidly.
Security has in the last years risen fast as a subject of great preoccupation, on land and on sea.
