ISO Management Systems Magazine Database on CD-ROM
Twenty-eight issues of ISO Management Systems, the unique magazine giving a worldwide overview of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other global business standards developed by ISO, are now available on a single CD-ROM.
The ISO Management Systems Magazine Database includes the complete collection in both English and French of the 430 articles that appeared in the magazine in the 28 issues from the first September-October 2001 issue up to and including the March-April 2006 issue for an investment of only 48 Swiss francs (about USD 39, or EUR 31).
Hundreds of thousands of organizations worldwide, their customers, consumers and regulatory
authorities stand to benefit from a new ISO/IEC standard designed to increase confidence in management system certification.
ISO/IEC 17021:2006, Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems, places rigorous requirements for competence and impartiality on the bodies that offer audit and certification to standards like ISO 9001:2000 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management).
International standards are a key driving force for world commerce. “Standards: big benefits for small business”, the theme for this year’s World Standards Day, recognizes that a significant share of the world’s businesses can be described as small to medium sized.
One of the main challenges facing the international trading system is the security hazard to global supply chains. ISO is contributing to a solution in the form of two essential reference documents in the ISO 28000 family of standards for supply chain security management systems designed to protect people, goods, infrastructure and equipment, including means of transport, against security incidents and to prevent their potentially devastating effects.
Between 10 and 15 ISO meetings take place every working day somewhere in the world. ISO has just posted on its Web site the story of one of them: the 19-23 June 2006 meeting in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland, of ISO technical committee ISO/TC 176, Quality management and quality assurance, subcommittee SC 2, Quality systems, which is responsible for the world famous ISO 9001 standard and its companion ISO 9004.
A new business tool to help organizations communicate their environmental performance
The new ISO 14063:2006, Environmental management – Environmental communication – Guidelines and examples, will assist organizations to communicate their views and present and explain the environmental implications of their activities, products and services. It advises them to listen to interested parties and incorporate their views and requests.
The ISO Survey of Certifications – 2005 sheds light on the roles played in globalization by ISO’s standards for quality and environmental management systems.
ISO 9001:2000 is now firmly established as the globally accepted standard for providing assurance about the quality of goods and services in supplier-customer relations. Up to the end of December 2005, at least 776 608 ISO 9001:2000 certificates had been issued in 161 countries and economies, an increase of 18 % over 2004, when the total was 660 132 in 154 countries and economies.
Businesses can contribute to a more sustainable planet by purchasing goods and services that cause less stress on the environment. ISO has published ISO 14025:2006, Environmental labels and declarations – Type III environmental declarations – Principles and procedures, which will benefit business to business communication, by enabling purchasers to make comparisons between products fulfilling the same function, and encourage improvement of environmental performance.
ISO has published new, improved editions of its life cycle assessment standards designed to highlight environmental problems and areas for improvement in the production and use of products.
New ISO 10014 standard explains how to achieve financial and economic benefits with ISO 9001:2000
Because the new ISO 10014 standard gives clear guidelines on achieving financial and economic benefits via ISO 9001:2000-based quality management systems, it could well become bedside reading both for top managers and for those quality professionals who may need to convince them.
