IT Gurus and gadgets

Recent gadgets like smartphones and tablets have revolutionized the way we carry out everyday tasks. Today, we can use phones to buy our transport tickets, or find our way when we are lost. With continual accessibility to the Internet, we can check our e-mail or social networks, shop and access information anytime, everywhere. But behind these innovations are real people, visionaries who dared dream the impossible, and made it happen.

Supporting these gurus and innovators are International Standards, which are crucial for translating ideas into realities that can be produced and deployed for the benefit of all.

On the other, standards can reduce well-developed and potentially conflicting practices to a single one, thereby reducing risks in the manufacturing process, increasing competition, and improving economies of scale.
