The Dirección General de Normas y Sistemas de Calidad (DIGENOR) is the official Institution for Standardization, Quality, Certification and Metrology in the Dominican Republic, founded by Law 602.
DIGENOR is a governmental body under the Secretary of State for Industry and Trade, which carries out the programmes and implements the resolutions of the National Commission of Standards and Quality Systems, created by this same law.
The National Commission of Standards and Quality Systems is composed of the Minister of Trade and Industry (who is also its President), the Minister of Public Health, the Central Bank Governor, the Technical Secretary of the President, the Executive Director of the Dominican Center for Exportation Promotion, the Minister of Public Works and Communications, the Minister of Agriculture, the National Defense Director, the Minister of work, the Association of Industries' President, the Chamber of Commerce's President, one representative from the consumer sector, the Exporter Association's President and the General Director of DIGENOR.
By Law 3925 of 17 September 1954 of Weights and Measures, DIGENOR is in charge of administering the National Metrology Service.
