Database of ISO 3166-2 (list part)
The product contains the following files:
- Microsoft® Access 2000 file of the list part of ISO 3166-2 comprising two interlinked tables, one with the subdivision codes and subdivision names and one with each country's header information
- Two semicolon-delimited TXT-files of identical content as the two database tables
- Readme-file with detailed information on the product
The table with the subdivision code and names comprises the following seven data fields
- ISO 3166-1 Alpha-2 Code
- ISO 3166-2 Code
- Subdivision Name 1 (i.e. name of a the subdivision in a first language)
- Subdivision Name 2 (i.e. name of a subdivision in a second language)
- Subdivision Name 3 (i.e. name of a subdivision in a third language)
- Regional Division (i.e. regional subdivision under which a subdivision name falls)
- Subdivision Category (i.e. generic name of the subdivision category e.g. "province")
NB: The first three data fields are obligatory for all entries. The last four data fields are not obligatory. They contain data only in those cases for which such information is given in ISO 3166-2.
The table with the header information comprises the following three data fields:
- ISO 3166-1 Alpha-2 Code
- Country Name
- Descriptive Information (i.e. the header information for each country: Subdivision layout and number; List source; Code source; Romanization System; Remark; any other information not represented in theother table e.g. regional subdivisions and their regional identifiers referenced in the field "Subdivision Category" in the table "ISO 3166-2 list"
At the date of the purchase the database file and the semicolon-delimited text files are up-to-date. The font used throughout is ARIAL UNICODE MS which allows for correct representation of all diacritical marks needed.
