Interim report on "Serbia and Montenegro"

On 2003-03-19 the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency (ISO 3166/MA) met and discussed possible changes in ISO 3166-1 that could result from the name change of "Yugoslavia" to "Serbia and Montenegro".

The experts could not take a decision on changes in ISO 3166-1 as a conclusive reply from the authorities in Serbia and Montenegro on a message sent by the ISO Secretary General on 2003-02-14 in which he proposed new code elements was not yet available.

The ISO 3166/MA recommends that the code elements representing the country name Yugoslavia in ISO 3166-1 (YU, YUG and 891) be used for Serbia and Montenegro until a decision is announced on this Website.
