About CEBENOR

CEBENOR was established in 1999 by means of an allotment from the national budget and with the technical and financial support of the UNDP under the Private Sector Development Programme. CEBENOR is a public establishment operating under the Ministry of Industry, but with operational autonomy. Its primary aims are to coordinate standardization, accreditation and certification work, and to promote quality in production and service activities.

The purpose of the Centre is to develop a national standards policy in order to facilitate the competitiveness and economic growth of local enterprises.
CEBENOR addresses the basic aspects of quality control involving the development of national standards, inspection and assessment of conformity to standards, information and training in regard to the concept of quality in companies and services.

The centre develops Benin standards through six technical committees dealing with national priority activities, for which it provides standing secretariat services. It coordinates all standards activities at national level and acts as a focal point in connection with the regional and international harmonisation of standardisation and related activities.
